How to Make A Matcha Mint Julep

How to Make A Matcha Mint Julep

Such a delicious and quick cocktail with just 5 ingredients. This drink reminds me of an iced tea, but with alcohol. This cocktail is perfect for anyone who loves matcha and bourbon's earthy flavor. I know it is an exciting combination, but wait until you taste it…wow!

Green tea matcha can in fact be mixed with many types of alcohol. Vodka, rum, whiskey, gin, tequila, and in this case, bourbon. Try to keep any matcha cocktail that you make simply because you don't want to lose that matcha yumminess.

Due to the fact that we are adding matcha to this cocktail, you will be consuming caffeine. You will get a nice burst of energy, but it won't be overbearing like when you drink an energy drink.

What we need:

  • 1 teaspoon of matcha
  • 10 fresh mint leaves
  • 1 tbs of sweet syrup like agave, honey, or dates syrup
  • 2 oz of bourbon ( 1 cup)
  • 1 sprig of mint leaves for garnish

Mix the bourbon and matcha in a bowl with a whisk. Make sure you remove all clumps and lumps. If you are using high-quality matcha, you won't have any lumps.

In an old fashion glass, add the mint leaves and sweet syrup. Then fill the glass with crushed ice and matcha-bourbon mixture.

Stir well all together and add more ice and mint leaves to garnish. Enjoy!
